Baktaphur Square

Just outside of Kathmandu is a small town called Baktaphur. During the day it feels a lot like a small version of Kathmandu. However, I spent two nights there, and in the evenings and mornings (when the tourists are largely absent) it has a whole different feel. In the evenings I sat out in the main square to watch dusk envelope the city and ended up playing games with the local school children (none of whom asked me for money). Mornings were quiet, and it was easy to believe that mornings in Baktaphur have not changed in several hundred years.

What a wonderful part of the world. I was last there twenty five years ago. Looking at your portfolio I see you are taking full advantage of being there. Lovely pictures

Great angle and I like the DOF (could be a bit sharper on the lion ;) ) Nepal is on my list of countries, must be a great magical place!

@Monique: Hi Monique, thanks. You're right it could be sharper on the lion. I couldn't get my tripod set up to get the angle I wanted, and this was in the days of film (so I was using ISO 50 velvia). Thank goodness for adjustable ISO on digital cameras!
