Pinchot IRPosted by Rand (Laie, United States) on 4 November 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This image was made while hiking the John Muir Trail. Coming down off Pinchot Pass, I made a series of shots I thought would be good converted to IR.

Curly from South Shields, United KingdomQuite superb, without doubt the best b&w landscape on view today. 4 Nov 2009 2:20pm @Curly: Wow. thank you very much. Barbara from Oakland, United StatesLove, love the IR. Do you have a special camera for this or is this a setting in camera? I really want to try IR sometime - think that one must sacrifice a camera to have the guts changed out to IR. 4 Nov 2009 4:21pm @Barbara: Hi Barbara. I didn't sacrifice a camera. I convert this to an IR look in post. You can do it in either Photoshop or Lightroom. It is basically a question of converting it to B&W and then making blues darker and greens lighter. There are lots of sites that give explanations of how to do it, so just give it a google and have fun. @MARIANA: Thanks. @bekkah: Thanks. @dabbler: Thank you. @Marie: Merci. @thami: Merci. @Michael: Thanks. @JPS: Thanks. dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statessimply beautiful -- and excellent IR landscape! 4 Nov 2009 11:32pm @dj.tigersprout: Thanks. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThe clouds stand out so incredibly well against that black sky.
