Tundra behind Pinchot PassPosted by Rand (Laie, United States) on 2 November 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This image was made while hiking the John Muir Trail. We had heard horror stories about Pinchot Pass. There was still a lot of snow on the pass, but the snow was mushy, and you could fall through and hit the rocks hidden beneath the snow. We found the pass was actually not that bad. There were a couple of sketchy snowfield to cross, but the reward was an amazing high plateau on the back side of the pass. High, green, rolling tundra in the foreground, rugged peaks in the background, and light, puffy clouds overhead.

As I recall, we were so tired we hardly even stopped. I actually just slung my camera around my neck and didn't even use my tripod. I think I did get Charlotte in a few of the shots I took, but none were good. @bahar: Thanks. mAnifesto from Lausanne, SwitzerlandI really like your landscape pictures !
