Giant SequoiasPosted by Rand (Laie, United States) on 28 June 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. The first tip you usually get when talking about photographing giant sequoias is to put something in the shot for a frame of reference. Place a hiker in the image so the viewer can see just how enormous these trees really are. I think that this can work, but it is not always necessary. Sequoias are not only huge, they have beautiful color and texture. In this shot I wanted to focus on the beauty of the trees rather than the size ... although I still think you can tell these are big trees.

Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyYou are right about the texture. The composition works good, too. 28 Jun 2009 9:45am Tracy from La Selva Beach, United StatesAwesome! I will never pass up the telephoto while shooting landscapes again! I am inspired! 29 Jun 2009 10:39pm @Tracy: Every time I go through my images I am amazed at how many telephoto landscapes I have. Thanks for the compliment! |
