Changing NaturePosted by Rand (Laie, United States) on 6 June 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Normally I tend to follow the "rule of thirds" when making images. That is to say, I never split my images right down the middle. I imagine that my frame is divided into thirds both horizontally and vertically, and I put important subjects somewhere near where the lines intersect. I tried that with this image. It looked wrong somehow. So I threw caution to the wind; I damned the torpedoes; I ate yellow snow ... Well, maybe not. But I did divide the image right down the middle and I think it looks great. I also love this image because it represents two types of change. The leaves represent a short term, cyclical change. The leaves fall and die quickly, but they are replaced each new season. On the other hand, the stream which has been channeled into the crack in the rock is slowly, but constantly wearing the rock away. The rock gives ground far slower than the leaves, but once the rock is diminished it is unlikely it will be able to renew itself. Hmmm.

Jen from St. George, United StatesDon't you love breaking the rules?? Sometimes it just works! This is another fabulous shot! The leaves are really cool, and I just love the contrasts - of light and texture! 6 Jun 2009 5:46am Alun Lambert from cheshire, United KingdomRules are made to be broken, keep everybody on there toes, nice one 6 Jun 2009 9:17pm shahram arianfar from Iranbeautiful , I like this photo but I don't know why. good luck 21 Jun 2009 6:32pm |
